Here are the details straight from the mouth of Captain Walt himself...

"She is hull #113 of the classic Bill Tripp Jr. design, of which 203 were built from 1959 to 1991. Henry Hinckley was in full charge of the company when she was being built. She is 40'9'' long with a 11'9'' beam, and draws 4'6" with board up and 8'9" with the board down. She weighs 20,000 lbs.. Her shoal draft is ideal for the Chesapeake Bay.

The Hinckley Company tries to track ownership history on all of their boats. I purchased the boat in November of 2004 in Southwest Harbor, Maine, and I am the fifth owner. Her thorough survey found her to be in excellent condition. All upgrade work performed on her was done by Hinckley or is of equivalent standard.

Llike most Hinckley's she is a semi-custom boat... no two B40's are alike. Mine was designed to be an offshore sailer with gunk hole capabilities. She has a full galley, refrigeration, marine fans, running hot and cold deck shower, radar, GPS, chart plotter, Vhf, single side band, TV antenna, Kenwood CD stereo with Jensen speakers, auto pilot, and an 8' Dyer dinghy - "Anywhere.”
